Photographing a Custom Ming Ray Purse

by dav.d

Sometimes I never know what I might be photographing next. I have a surfboard behind me that I might be photographing. In the meantime, check out this glittery Ming Ray clutch. It was a custom design for a gift given to the Nu Skin Team Elite members this past year. I googled what Ming Ray purses cost, and dang! I went into the wrong business. I should’ve designed bags, hun.

The clutch is semi reflective, but full of glitter, so you want it to sparkle and shine but not be the reflection in the shine. I then knocked the background out for white and I did all the retouching myself. I can turn this around in a day, easy peasy. If I don’t have a lot of other simultaneous projects.

All you need are some soft lights, white reflectors, and gobos to block reflections. In Photoshop we use the Pen tool to knock out the background and then some Clone Stamp to make the clutch look its best. Yay!

And the instructions always include “don’t drop it!” I am not that clumsy, y’all.
