Surprise! Base jumpers!
I was in Rock Canyon to photograph a couple for some engagement style photographs. Suddenly we heard some weird flapping sounds. Turns out a base jumper was making his decent from the cliffs over Rock Canyon in Provo, Utah. My camera was set for studio lighting and not for sports photography. However, you do what you can when you have seconds to photograph two base jumpers. It did give some cool motion blur and the photos look awesome.

Like a lot of base jumping stunts what happens is probably illegal. I don’t have good photos to convict anyone though so these are more for entertainment than anything. If you are going to participate in extreme sports you need a camera on you to just document your cool lifestyle.

This was on a Sunday morning so there was no real chance of running into people or police. We just happened to be there for a photo shoot. Lucky coincidence.

I don’t know if there is a lesson to learn here other than have a camera ready at all times, you don’t know what unique thing might happen. Be prepared!
