My iPhone Camera Captures a Day of Caring 2018 with the United Way

by dav.d

Ack! I woke up at 5:30am to be one of the first for breakfast at the United Way’s Day of Caring 2018. The breakfast was hosted at my day job, Nu Skin. There were people from all sorts of companies in Utah County. I bumped into a cousin who works with BYU.

The volunteers from Nu Skin were assigned the task of painting games on the asphalt at Bonneville Elementary School in Orem, Utah. We had paint, rollers, brushes, stencils, and twine. They provided some photographs of games they wanted painting. My group went with the pretty complex compass and clock! It almost felt like a reality show contest and I think we pulled it off.

We had used twine to measure… by guesstimating the size to the real world. It was a bit of a challenge and while I ran to Home Depot, they were able to mark out the important lines and circles. Then we painted like Van Gogh, although, no one cut off their ear.

I think we did pretty well for a first try. The kids better like it! I’m not sure what the game is, or maybe our painting is more for eye candy.

And the other groups did pretty well. Painting circles is pretty challenging.

And all of these photographs were shot with my iPhone. Sometimes it is fun to challenge myself and create something with a different tool. Yes, my big camera would have made some killer images, but these turned out well. They say the best camera is the one you have with you. Yay, iPhone!

And I’m staying up late tonight to order the new iPhone. Anyone else buying one?
