I can finally share this awesome engagement session with Sydney & Michael. We photographed their engagements at The Loft Studio in Lehi, Utah. It is a fun little space with two main rooms. One is a large white room with shiplap walls. The other room is a small natural brown wood room set up as a living room.
The studio is designed for natural light photography with large windows with lots of beautiful light coming through. The day was overcast so I’m glad I brought my own lighting to help augment the scene. My lights with natural lights for the winning combination.
Posing becomes very important in a location like this. We have textured walls and a little bit of furniture. So posing natural looking interactions between the bride and groom and very important. I even printed out a cheat sheet of some popular poses to help give Sydney and Michael some posing ideas. We put them in a pose and then let them move around and interact with each other.
“Look at each other, look at me, whisper in her ear…”
So the Loft Studio is definitely a fun place for engagements, family portraits, and other photos. So I recommend it as an option. There is a fee for usage that I just tack onto my shooting fee. And that works just like any shooting location that has a fee. I’m up front on the cost of the location and include that as a line on the invoice.
And with any engagement shoot, I will whittle down the photos to the best one, but with enough that the bride and groom can still pick their favorites. And you have access to all the surviving photos. I do the basic touchups, and if you want even more retouching, I’ll do that as well.
I’d never heard of this studio, and I drive by it often during the summer. These pictures turned out great! Well done.
